And for the first time ever, Topps is also introducing a new Ultimate Football Quiz App.
It’s a trip down memory lane for football fans and retailers alike, as Topps unveils its plans to revive the Merlin brand for its latest collection of Premier League stickers.
To celebrate the launch of the 22nd official Premier League Sticker Album, the collectables firm is paying homage to the heritage of the collection.
The Merlin brand was used on the first official Premier League Sticker collection, which launched in January 1994, and was an icon on the cover until 2009, when the company changed its name to Topps.
Kids have been collecting, sticking and swapping the range for over two decades now, and the firm is hoping to reignite the interest and nostalgia of former collectors.
Rod Pearson, marketing director for Topps, said: “Over the last few seasons, we have had an increasing amount of feedback from older collectors reminiscing about the Merlin brand.
“Following further research with our collectors, we decided now was the time to reinstate the Merlin brand. We are also aware that a lot of our early collectors through the mid to late 90s are now parents themselves, and would enjoy the idea of collecting Merlin stickers with their children, as they enjoyed doing so 20 years ago.”
Titled Merlin’s Official Premier League 2015 Sticker Collection, this year’s edition will feature the biggest stars of the Barclays Premier League with a variety of photographs, home and away kits and club badges.
And for the first time ever, Topps is also introducing a new Ultimate Football Quiz App, searching the country for the Ultimate Barclays Premier League Mastermind.
Merlin’s Official Premier League 2015 Sticker Collection will feature an 88 page album and will be available to purchase from December 18th.
Fans can kick start their collection with a Starter Pack for £2, including the album and four packets of stickers.
Packets of five stickers are available for 50p each.
