China, the global leader in textile and apparel manufacturing, is suffering from high labor cost and in order to reduce the impact of increasing production cost, the country’s textile and garment manufacturers should focus on quality markets such as Italy and Middle East countries for exports, according to the industry representatives.
“China’s apparel makers need to focus on quality markets, such as Italy, for exports to reduce the impacts on high labor cost,” said Ms. Pan, the spokesperson of Changzhou Orient Sunshine International, in an interview with fibre2fashion.
Whereas, Mr. Dongming Xu, head of foreign trade department at Wuxi Tianxiu Textiles, says, “Chinese textile manufacturers must eye on Middle East countries since the US and the EU are affected by economic crisis.”
According to Ms. Pan, while concentrating on new markets, the garment manufacturers should also focus on making high-quality clothing rather than producing large quantity garments of low quality and low price.
On the other hand, Mr. Dongming says, “Labor cost is the main challenge faced by the textile manufacturers in China so they should reduce dependency on workers for decreasing the impact of high production cost.”
Talking about the significance of Chinese textile and clothing, Ms. Pan says, “Efficiency to produce high-quality products is one of the major qualities of the country’s textile and apparel sector.”
Agreeing with her, Mr. Dongming says, “Advancement in technology, efficiency in providing full range sourcing and professional service makes China’s textile and garment sector different from other Asian countries.”
