Metso Will Manage The Mill Maintenance Operations of Australian Paper's Maryvale Mill

Metso will manage the mill maintenance operations of Australian Paper’s Maryvale Mill in Victoria, as part of a multi-year agreement.

All maintenance systems and procedures at the mill will be managed by Metso, which will also take up responsibility for optimizing maintenance costs and developing maintenance quality.

According to Metso, the integrated fine paper-making and packaging papers mill produces more than 500,000t of paper annually.

The mill comprises three pulp lines, five papermaking machines, an elemental chlorine free bleach plant, pulp lapping machine, finishing facility as well as a waste paper processing plant.

Under the terms of the agreement, Metso will assist Australian Paper with improved planning and productivity.

The company's mill maintenance model optimizes the use of total productive maintenance (TPM), streamlined reliability centered maintenance and condition-based maintenance.

Australian Paper CEO Jim Henneberry said, "Metso is a world-class maintenance supplier and original equipment manufacturer to the pulp and paper industry globally. Their significant worldwide expertise and professionalism will greatly benefit our operations at Maryvale."

Australian Paper, part of Nippon Paper Group, manufactures fine papers for print and office applications and produces packaging papers.
