Toledo Will Invest $7 Million to Build a 175,000-Square-Foot Warehouse

Toledo, Ohio-based glass fiber reinforcements and engineered materials producer Owens Corning will invest $7 million to build a 175,000-square-foot warehouse adjacent to its Aiken, S.C., facility for storing products produced at the plant. Construction of the facility is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2014.

The expansion follows Owens Corning's 2010 announcement that it would invest $36 million in the Aiken plant to add a nonwoven glass fiber mat production line and 35 jobs (See " Owens Corning To Expand Production, Add Jobs At Aiken, S.C., Facility," Dec. 28, 2010, TextileWorld.com).

"We are pleased to continue to expand our footprint in Aiken," said Steven Vermeulen, vice president and managing director of Engineered Solutions, Owens Corning Composites Business. "South Carolina has a business-friendly climate and has a talented workforce that we are pleased to have as part of our team. The decision to build a new warehouse facility allows us to better serve our customers and increase our operational efficiency."
