Tesco unveiled an array of exclusive products at their Christmas in July showcase as own-brand Carousel expands into new categories.
Tesco is significantly expanding its Carousel own-brand range of toys, listing them among its predicted top-sellers for Christmas 2017.
A range that has previously focused on the nursery and pre-school categories, the expanded Carousel line-up will now feature a selection of diecast and radio control vehicles, a collection of nurturing dolls and plush items.
Following what Tesco has declared as a ‘big investment in the Carousel range for this year,’ a total of 150 items will feature in the line-up, available in store and online from October.
Items from the Carousel range were among a list of toys the grocer has predicted to be top sellers this Christmas period, as the retailer held its annual Christmas in July showcase on London earlier this week.
Headlining the firm’s toys offering was a raft of exclusive products from high-profile licenses including an exclusive set of Power Rangers movie toys as well as a six pack of 12-inch Guardians of the Galaxy action figures.
The company also highlighted two currently embargoed licensed products that it believes will be among the top licensed products for Q4 this year.
"If we want to be that destination for customers at Christmas, we have to get them coming through the door for something they can only buy from us," senior buying manager Garry Lawford told ToyNews.
"This season has seen really strong growth but has definitely been tougher in retail. We've got some great exclusive licensed lines which we can't talk about yet, but we're really excited for the launch of the My Little Pony Movie given how strong we have been in this brand, and we've got a brand new exclusive range for this that we can't wait to launch."
