Foxconn will instantly fire any employee found to have been responsible for the breaching laws
China based contract electronics maker Foxconn has admitted to have employed 14 to 16 year old student interns its Chinese facility.
Foxconn said in a statement that its internal investigation at a factory in Yantai found that it had employed underage interns ranging in age between 14 and 16 for about three weeks.
"This is not only a violation of China's labour law, it is also a violation of Foxconn policy and immediate steps have been taken to return the interns in question to their educational institutions," Foxconn said.
"However, we recognise that full responsibility for these violations rests with our company and we have apologised to each of the students for our role in this action."
Foxconn has also insisted that it will instantly fire any employee found to have been responsible for the breaching laws and claimed that it is one of case and no other facility has employed underaged workers.
The announcement follows after Chinese media reports of underage interns among its China workforce.
case follows trouble in another Foxconn facility in the Jiangsu province in China had been charged that it had improperly employed interns on the production line to manufacture iPhone accessories.
The company is Apple's largest manufacturing partner and manufactures iPhone accessories as well as makes products for Dell, Sony and HP.
Earlier Foxconn denied the charges that the production of Apple's new iPhone 5, at its Zhengzhou facility in China, being affected by a strike by thousands of its workers.
