The card game billed 'for people who like kittens and explosions' smashed through its $10,000 goal in just 20 minutes.
Exploding Kittens, the ‘card game for people who like kittens and explosions’ has blasted on to the internet, having raised $4m on Kickstarter with 23 days still to go.
The project – the brainchild of Xbox design chief Elan Lee and the team behind TheOatmeal.com – smashed through its initial crowd-funding goal of $10,000 in just 20 minutes.
Exploding Kittens is billed as a ‘highly strategic kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette’, challenging players to draw cards until an exploding kitten loses the game.
“The game gets more and more intense with each card you draw because fewer cards left in the deck means a greater chance of drawing the kitten and exploding in a fiery ball of feline hyperbole,” said Lee via the game’s Kickstarter page.
“We think this game combines all the things we are best at creating, and put together this Kickstarter campaign because we can’t build this without you.”
With 104,216 backers, offering a total of $4,094,652 to date, it seems the team’s appeal did not go unheard.
The project will now be funded on Friday, February 20th, 2015.
