A PicKnit hosted by the Campaign for Wool will be held at Low Sizergh Barn, Kendal on Sunday (13th October) as part of the Kendal Wool Gathering and to celebrate Wool Week (14th – 20th October)
PicKnit is the Campaign for Wool’s community activity this year and has attracted people all over the country to get together and celebrate wool with a PicKnit. There are events happening the length and breadth of the UK and the USA, in homes, gardens, cafes, shops and even one in The Grosvenor Hotel, London as a group of American ladies fly in to participate!
The PicKnit at Kendal will have a whole range of woolly activities including knitting, crochet, pom-pom sheep making - with a micro flock from the famous Pom-Pom sheep parade, finger knitting with PinkyKnits and a British Wool sorting table with Dr Wool in residence to answer all woolly questions. Sizergh’s own Sheep will be there too to take part in the fun and there is a competition to guess the sheep breeds.
A stunning, multi-colour PicKnit blanket pattern has been created for PicKnit and is designed by Marie Wallin of Rowan and can be downloaded from the Campaign for Wool .Wool lovers can sign-up and then they can get the pattern and a downloadable invitation for their own PicKnit event.
“We welcome everyone to come along and learn about wool and how fabulous and versatile this natural fibre is. The PicKnit is a social event - people can sit and share food and their love of wool and knitting and craft. We hope it will stimulate a lot of good fun in Kendal and across the country too.” Bridgette Kelly of the Campaign for Wool said.
