Business Worth US$ 13.5 Million Was Generated by 45 Peruvian SMEs

Business worth US$ 13.5 million was generated by 45 Peruvian small and medium enterprises (SMEs), including textile and apparel firms, which participated in the latest edition of Expo Peru-Brazil, held recently in the city of Belo Horizonte in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) and the Commission for the Promotion of Peru Export and Tourism (PROMPERU) along with the support of the Embassy of Peru in Brazil.

According to a statement issued by MINCETUR, the participating Peruvian companies managed to conduct over 400 business meetings with Brazilian firms at the expo which has resulted into commercial transactions of US$ 13.5 million.

Around 8 apparel firms from the Peruvian Gammara emporium managed to secure business contacts with Brazilian firms which would result into collaborations for the next football World Cup 2014 scheduled to be held in Brazil.

Peru’s Foreign Trade Minister Magali Silva said the Brazilian authorities and entrepreneurs stressed on the fact that the Peruvian standard of quality and professionalism was demonstrated by the SMEs displaying their products at the expo.

Ms. Silva said the designer collections showcased at the expo by Jorge Luis Salinas and Lama Company demonstrated the versatility and innovation of Peruvian clothing, and the sportswear collections presented by Peru’s Gammara entrepreneurs also managed to generate interest amongst other international firms.

Over 800 participants attended the Expo Peru-Brazil, including businessmen, officials and diplomats. The Expo Peru-Brazil was held to provide an opportunity for Peruvian entrepreneurs to showcase various products to the visitors.
