Saudi Arabian PP Producer NATPET Has Launched Two New Polypropylenes for Containers

Saudi Arabian polypropylene (PP) producer National Petrochemical Industrial (NATPET) has launched two new polypropylenes for thin-walled injection molded food and non-food containers.

According to the company, the new grades, Teldene R25MLT and R40MLT both containing Milliken's Millad NX 8000 clarifying agent are aimed at markets of Europe, Turkey, the Middle East, and Asia.

The presence of Millad NX 8000 in the grades helps the converters to achieve added benefit of considerable energy and cost savings by processing it at lower temperatures and cycle times compared to similar products in the market, the company claimed.

With melt flow rates of 25 and 40 g/10 minutes respectively, the two grades have similar mechanical properties, while Teldene R40MLT, which has higher flow rate is designed for complex products and high-speed machines.

The parts molded with the grades have good optical properties. The Haze value, at a thickness of 1mm is just 6%, compared to 15-20% in grades with conventional clarifiers, which is due to the improved solubility of Millad NX 8000 in PP.

NATPET assistant manager product application Neaz Ahmed commenting on the new grades said: "Processors using the new grades can reduce ecological Carbon Dioxide generation by five to eight percent."
