As of August 2013, DORIX GmbH - European leader in the production and sale of PA6 staple fibre products, with 2012 sales revenues of about EUR 15 million - will be operating under the new name of RADICI CHEMIEFASER GmbH. The company name change was the result of a reorganization of RadiciGroup corporate operations in Germany, where the Group has production and sales sites and is engaged in the businesses of synthetic fibres (RADICI CHEMIEFASER GmbH), chemicals (Radici Chimica Deutschland GmbH) and plastics (Radici Plastics GmbH).
By acquiring DORIX GmbH (now RADICI CHEMIEFASER GmbH) and its historic DORIX? trademark in 2011, RadiciGroup was able to boost its presence in the market segment of synthetic fibres for textile flooring and strengthen the level of vertical integration in its polyamide production chain. Before the acquisition, the Group had already been engaged in the production of both raw and solution-dyed PA6 staple fibre at its Italian site Radici Yarn SpA. The Italian and German sites complement each other allowing RadiciGroup to offer its customers greater production flexibility and more custom colour options on top of high performance in resistance and colourfastness. Additionally, the product portfolio has a greater variety of counts - from the finest, produced by Radici Yarn SpA, to the coarsest (greater than 135 dtex).
Furthermore, a new staple fibre product under the brand name DORIX? PA6.10 has been developed using polyamide 6.10 produced at the Radici Chimica SpA chemical facility from materials of biological origin - sebacic acid (64% by weight) - and hexamethylenediamine, a chemical intermediate produced under the direct control of RadiciGroup. Sebacic acid is extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant, which is grown, mainly in China and India, in semi-arid regions and is therefore not in competition with food crops.
staple products are ideal for textile flooring in the contract sector, particularly for the production of rugs and needle felt tiles.
