American Rug Craftsmen is introducing a number of new rug collections at this month's High Point Market.
The Mohawk Inds. brand is partnering with the Woolrich Co. for a collection of rugs that officials say embody all-American style. It is also introducing two new printed rug collections, Flagstaff and Concord.
From American Rug Craftsmen's Woolrich Collection, Loramar is a traditional pattern focusing on six elongated diamonds on a red ground and framed by a wide floral border.
"The Woolrich collection from American Rug Craftsmen combines the all-American feel and aesthetic of the Woolrich Co. with the quality craftsmanship of American Rug Craftsmen," said Brandon Culpepper, vice president of specialty sales for Mohawk.
Woven of polypropylene on Van De Wiele looms in the U.S., the Woolrich collection features plaids, panels and Native American and lodge looks in rich earthtones and spicy shades. Retail pricing is $199 for a 5 by 8.
Previously, Woolrich and Karastan, another Mohawk brand, had teamed on designs. Culpepper said it made sense for the Sugar Valley, Ga.-based ARC brand to partner with Woolrich because of its focus on domestic product styled for the American market.
"Karastan Rugs has offered a few Woolrich-designed rugs in previous collections, but this is the first time we are presenting the Woolrich designs as their own standalone collection," Culpepper said. "We think American Rug Craftsmen, with its dedication to the American rug industry, is an excellent platform for this exciting, new, made-in-America, designed-for-America collection."
The Flagstaff collection includes mixes of bright colors and ?traditional patterns, florals, transitional styles-?in a plush cut nylon pile.
The Concord collection has the look of a petit point hand-hooked rug. Printed on a looped pile nylon base that feels as soft as wool, this collection features florals, traditional styles, transitional looks and nauticals to bring the look of modern crewels into a variety of settings. Both rugs retail for $199 in a 5 by 8.
"Our Flagstaff and Concord rugs are the first of their kind in the industry," said Culpepper. "These collections are crafted in the USA using Mohawk's new higher resolution printing capacity, which makes rugs of great detail and beautiful color using the softest nylon yarn on the market. The result is a rug that is extremely soft, durable, sophisticated and affordable. This ups the game in printed rugs considerably."
American Rug Craftsmen shows in the International Home Furnishings Center, H-309. The High Point Market runs Oct. 19-24.
