Germany-based GEA food solutions has demonstrated GEA SmartPacker vertical packaging machines with new ultrasonic sealing technology.
The feature that differentiates GEA's solution from other vertical packaging machines is the ultrasonic sealing (patent pending) technology which keeps the sealing jaws, independent on machine output, parallel to incredibly tight tolerances while they close on the film.
GEA SmartPacker product manager Carla Verheijen said the company is confident that its machines could achieve a near zero reject rate with ultrasonic sealing to overcome its technical challenge.
"The solution we developed has now proved itself in practice with our packaging machines working in the salad, cheese and stir-fry food sectors. We can proudly say we know how it's done."
According to the company, the vertical packaging machines have ultrasonically sealed more than 100 million bags worldwide.
