Japan's Coking Coal Imports Totaled 5.4 Million Metric Tons, Falling by 8.4 Percent

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's coking coal imports totaled 5.4 million metric tons in November last year, falling by 8.4 percent month on month and down 17.6 percent compared to November 2011.

In the first 11 months of 2012, Japan's coking coal imports amounted to 65.9 million metric tons, increasing by 3.8 percent year on year.

In the first 11 months of last year, Japan's coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 34.8 million metric tons, up 1.9 compared to the same period of the previous year, while Indonesia exported 16 million mt of coking coal to Japan in the January-November period of last year, rising by 18.4 percent year on year.
