BKMEA Organized a View Exchanging Meeting with Its Esteemed Members in Garment Sector

BKMEA organized a view exchanging meeting with its esteemed members on some current burning issues of RMG sector at Hotel Purbani on 28 September, 2013.

The agenda of the meeting were discussion on minimum wage, ensuring fire safety in factories, structural design of the buildings, implementation of labor law-2013 and putting into action compliance rules in all factories. A.K.M. Salim Osman, President of BKMEA, presided over the meeting.

The meeting was started with the inaugural speech of president. In the inaugural speech, he thanked all participants from different factories.

BKMEA Secretary Mr. Sulav Chowdhury, 2nd Vice President Mr. A.H. Aslam Sunny and 1st Vice President Mohammad Hatem of BKMEA delivered their speech on National Tri-partite Plan of Action on Fire Safety, Structural Design and Building Safety and major amendment in Labour Law 2013 respectively.

Finally the president delivered speech on minimum wage. About 400 honorable members were present in the meeting and shared their valuable opinions regarding present situation with BKMEA leaders. There were discussion sessions after each speaker’s speech. Many factory owners made their queries before the speaker. And the speakers clarified all the ambiguities that were prevalent in these cases.

In his speech, the President said as a concerned body we are continuously working to develop the sector. He added that BKMEA is so much concerned about the current situation. He prioritized the importance of the image of the garment sector of Bangladesh in the world platform.

He asserts that we have no other alternative but to introduce compliance issues strictly in the factories. At the end of the meeting he gave special thanks to the owners of the factories for their presence and shared views.
