PPG Industries will exhibit its entire collection of architectural and industrial powder coatings at Powder Coating 2013, a trade show sponsored by the Powder Coating Institute (PCI), Oct. 8-10 in St. Louis.
Visitors to booth 217 will find information about DURANAR and CORAFLON powder coatings, two high-performance products that together offer architects a full spectrum of choices in color and glosses for high-end building applications.
Duranar powder coatings are based on 70-percent polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) formulations that have nearly a half-century of proven performance in difficult building environments. Warrantied for difficult seacoast environments, these two-coat systems feature excellent panel-to-panel color consistency and are available in an array of earth-toned colors that can be made to order in small batches for individual building and specialty projects.
Coraflon one-coat powder coating systems, formulated with fluoroethylene vinyl ether (FEVE) resins, extend the color palette further for architects and designers by offering a richer variety of colors enhanced with high-luster glosses.
Duranar and Coraflon powder coatings meet American Architectural Metal Association (AAMA) 2605 specifications for color and gloss retention over decades of environmental exposure, and they resist surface damage caused by chemical attack, acid rain, salt, humidity, mortar deposits and other environmental hazards.
PPG also will display polyester-based ENVIROCRON 03 durable and Envirocron 04 ultra-durable powder coatings for architectural applications and Envirocron coatings for industrial applications. Envirocron 03 coatings are used for window and door frames, railings, trim and interior applications. They come in a selection of solid colors, pearlescent pigments and textured finishes to meet AAMA 2603 weathering specifications.
Envirocron 04 coatings are based on the same polyester formulations as Envirocron 03 coatings with more robust resin and pigment systems. With their added durability, Envirocron 04 coatings meet AAMA 2604 weathering standards and are excellent for high-touch, high-traffic environments such as schools, hospitals and retail stores, as well as flagpoles and other highly exposed architectural elements.
Visitors to the PPG booth will find literature about Envirocron powder coatings for industrial applications, including a quick-ship color selector card that shows 112 in-stock colors, including metallics, clear coats, specialty coatings and new military colors. There also will be information about PPG’s same-day shipping program for 136 RAL CLASSIC colors in high-gloss, solid-opaque coatings formulated with exterior-grade, ultra-durable polyester resin technology. RAL is a leading international color standard for professional users of paint and coatings in various industries. Many colors in the RAL CLASSIC collection are standard for use on traffic signs and by government agencies and public services.
For the first time, PPG will highlight SILVERSAN™ anti-microbial-protected powder coatings. These products feature silver-ionic technology to inhibit the growth of fungi, algae and bacteria on coated metal surfaces. They are ideal for hygienic uses in schools, hospitals, child-care facilities and pharmaceutical labs and on medical, food-service packaging and playground equipment.
