Toy Start-up Companies and Inventors Can Now Receive Dedicated Technical

Toy start-up companies and inventors can now receive dedicated technical and regulatory advice on product safety from Bureau Veritas' toy consultants in the UK.

Bureau Veritas Offers Help to Toy Start-Ups

The new 'toy start-up consultancy solution' - which is available from the firm's Warrington testing laboratory - aims to help new toy businesses navigate through the European Toy Safety regulations, and clearly understand obligations and responsibilities ahead of placing toys for sale in the European market.

"We frequently receive questions from start-up companies who are looking at commencing the manufacturing or distribution of toys in Europe," said Simon Stokes, section head for toys and juvenile products at Bureau Veritas' UK laboratory. "They are often looking for guidance on safety requirements applicable to their specific product, on the design evaluation of their toy and on the relevant testing and labeling requirements.

"Toys sold on the European market must comply with the Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC, a 38-page document which can be a daunting piece of regulation for new industry-comers. Most of the time, young entrepreneurs only want to understand how this regulation is applicable to their specific toy."

Bureau Veritas has now launched a one-to-one consultancy service to help toy businesses be more confident about the safety of their products, and help them make the next step towards manufacturing.
