Recruiter comes on board as the sponsor of the new Rising Star award.
Gameplan Europe has become the latest company to support the ToyNews Women of the Year 2015 networking event and awards - signing up as sponsor of the Rising Star category.
The recruitment agency joins Norton & Co, which is on board for the Marketeer award.
The eagerly awaited networking lunch will take place at Home House, London on Thursday, July 16th.
In addition to the lunch, the event will honour four women, celebrating their outstanding achievements in the UK toy industry over the past year. As well as Rising Star and Marketeer, other accolades will include Innovator and Woman of the Year.
"In recent years there have been many successful female sales directors and marketing directors in the toy industry, as well as a few managing directors," said Andrew Dobbie, MD of Gameplan Europe. "This is not surprising because women have certain advantages over men which can be brought to bear in the management of toys.
"Clearly I am on politically dangerous ground here, but I think readers will know what I mean from their own experience of women’s egos not getting in the way of managing people effectively, and also women’s skill in multi-tasking is hugely advantageous in the fast moving toy business, especially in marketing.
"However there is a long way to go before women reach their potential on meritocratic grounds in the toy industry. Just one obvious reason is that interviewers tend to recruit candidates who are like themselves, and of course most interviewers are still men. In addition, women frequently have a more modest opinion of their competitive talents than do their male colleagues, so they don’t assert themselves as much in the battle for career progression.
