Domino to Launch New Fluorescent Ink for K600I Piezo Drop on Demand Ink Jet Printer

Domino Digital Printing Solutions is introducing a new fluorescent security ink for its K600i piezo drop on demand ink jet printer at Labelexpo Europe 2017.

The UV80CL ink will be useful for security printing and brand protection, allowing businesses to deal with counterfeiting and forgery.

Domino said its UV80CL ink prints clear, but fluoresces green, in an ultraviolet UV-A 365nm blacklight.

The ink can be useful in printing 2D codes, barcodes, alpha numeric codes, images, graphics and personalised data printing.

All of these can have security, authentication and anti-counterfeit applications. The company owned by Japan's Brothers industries, stated that by combining regular ink with the fluorescent ink can result in a complex print, which can be extremely difficult to replicate.

The application of the ink is not only limited to products, but it can be used in several applications where new security features or marks are needed, for example in currency, stamps, tax stamps, passports and certificates to prevent forgery, tampering or counterfeiting of such items.

In terms of labeling and packaging, it can enhance traceability to safeguard against counterfeit and parallel trade.

The ink ideally works with Domino’s K600i printer which can also be easily integrated into an existing web-fed press or used as a standalone roll-to-roll solution or finishing line.

The UV80CL ink is also claimed to be compatible for standard media such as polyethylene, polypropylene and coated and uncoated papers.

Domino Printing Solutions aftercare product manager Mark Herrtage said: “In today’s price competitive and technology savvy marketplace, it is imperative that brand owners establish a strong and effective anti-counterfeiting and brand protection programme to safeguard their brands.

“With that in mind, the Domino UV80CL fluorescent ink provides security, label and packaging converters with an added value offering to assist brand owners on this quest.”

“We’re looking forward to meeting visitors on our stand at Labelexpo, where we can demonstrate how this new ink can help businesses address their security and brand protection needs.”
