LeapFrog Has Lifted The Lid on Its First Educational Video Gaming System, The LeapTV.

The educational video gaming console has three modes of play with over 100 games available.

LeapFrog has lifted the lid on its first educational video gaming system, the LeapTV.

Aimed at kids aged three to eight years old, the new game console aims to combine activity and movement in an entertainment system in line with the national curriculum.

LeapTV features three ways to play: Body Motion, Pointer Play and Classic Control. Each can be engaged via its transforming gaming controller.

The new system also features a motion-sensing camera and a Learning Library of over 100 video games and videos, developed by the firm’s learning experts.

"It is shocking that less than one per cent of the tens of thousands of video game titles are rated appropriate for children under the age of six,” said Dr. Jody Sherman LeVos, director of LeapFrog’s learning team.

"We know that young children want to experience new ways to play through technology earlier than ever, but parents quickly discover that there are very few solutions that are developmentally appropriate or educational for children.

"At LeapFrog, we built LeapTV from the ground up to make it the best first video gaming experience for children.

"From the simple user interface to the innovative controller with a built in ‘hint’ button and a world class Learning Library all designed by our learning team, LeapTV gets children’s minds and bodies moving while engaging in learning fun.”

The LeapTV system retails at £119.99 and will be available online and at major UK retail locations from October this year.

Game cartridges will be available for £24.99 online and at retail while downloadable games and apps will start at aroun £3.50 upwards and will be available via the LeapFrog App Center.
