Tamagotchi has made a return to UK toy shelves in the form of Tamagotchi ID – a colour screened version of the classic interactive pocket pet.
Its currently available exclusively in Harrods’ Toy Kingdom for £60.
Tamagotchi ID owners can download new items, accessories and games via infrared and pets can be dressed up in hats and accessories, hence the ID suffix (stands for ‘identification’).
If successful, could this mini Tamagotchi launch pave the way for the '90s toy craze to return in bigger numbers?
Bandai UK does like to test out its Japanese parent company’s more risky products here in small batches first, as evidenced with TechPet last year.
And with Tamagotchi being positioned as a lifestyle brand with Tamagotchi ‘L.i.f.e’ in 2012, could the UK be set for another Tamagotchi invasion soon?
