Activision Publishing is bringing its toys-to-life Skylanders to the trading card and mobile gaming categories with Skylanders Battlecast.
The new title has been billed as bringing ‘cards to life in a new mobile adventure, set in the Skylanders universe.’
Skylanders Battlecast lets players create a team of their favourite heroes and build decks for battle in a game that is “appealing for both Skylanders fans and classic card battle enthusiasts.”
Fans can purchase physical card packs at retail, as well as digital card packs in-game. Then, by scanning the physical cards with their mobile devices, can watch the characters come to life in the Skylanders Battlecast game.
Furthermore, fans can scan tow character cards to create animated duels in which players can interact with the characters.
“Built from the ground up to bring Skylanders to life on mobile devices, Skylanders Battlecast combines physical card play with mobile gaming in an all new way,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision Publishing.

Skylanders Battlecast will be available in 2016.
