Sunland’s peanut butter plant in New Mexico, which has been linked to a salmonella outbreak in the US, has received a FDA approval to recommence operations at the plant.
The plant can re-operate after developing a sanitation plan with the help of an expert's advice, which must be approved by the US Food & Drink Administration.
The agency had to use a new authority for the first time to cancel the company's operating certificate without a court hearing, reported Seattletimes.com.
The company halted the operations at the plant after 42 illness cases were identified that were linked to the consumption of its products.
The plant is expected to recommence operations from 26 December 2012.
