Methanol Market Showed Mixed Trend in Asia and Stable in US Last Week

Methanol market showed mixed trend in Asia, whereas it was stable in US and Europe in the week ending December 15, 2012.

In China, Methanol prices were steady and were spotted at US$ 355-365/ton CFR China.
 
Methanol prices went down slightly in Korea. Market analysts spotted Methanol prices in the range of US$ 360-365/ton FOB Korea.
 
In Japan, Methanol prices showed similar trend as Korea. Prices were spotted in the range of US$ 360-365/ton CFR Japan.
 
Methanol prices remained stable in India due to balanced demand and supply conditions in the market and were marked at US$ 300-305/ton CFR India.
 
In S.E. Asia, Methanol prices showed similar trend as Korea. Based on the market condition, Methanol prices were assessed at US$ 365-370/ton CFR S.E. Asia.
 
Asian contract prices posted by Methanex for Asia Pacific region were US$ 435/ton. Prices are valid for the month of December 2012.
 
In Europe, Methanol prices were steady due to sluggish downstream demand in the region. Prices were assessed in the range of US$ 330-340/ton FOB Rotterdam. Contract prices posted by Methanex on December, 18th, 2012 (Valid January 1 - March 31, 2013) were € 370/ton FOB NWE.
 
In US, prices of Methanol showed similar trend as Europe. Downstream demand was sluggish in the region. Spot prices of Methanol were in the range of 120-125 (cents/gallon) FOB US.
