Textile exports from Spain increase 14.7 percent during the first eight months of 2013 and touched €7.83 million, compared to the same period in 2012, as per the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness’ data.
According to the monthly data on exports released by the Ministry, the exports of garments during the January to August period reached €5.5 million, indicating an increase of 19.3 percent, compared to the same period last year.
During the first eight months of 2013, Spain’s textile imports amounted to €9.525 million, indicating an increase of 2.7 percent compared to the same period in 2012.
Imports in the garment sub-sector during January to August, 2013, grossed €7.211 million, showing a rise of 2.2 percent year-on-year.
According to the data for August 2013, Spain exported textiles worth €1.1 million, registering a growth of 20 percent compared to the same period last year, whereas the imports of textiles fell by 5.9 percent year-on-year to €1.32 million during the same month.
Meanwhile, garment exports in the month of August 2013 fetched €883,400 recording a jump of 20.5 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.
Imports of garments by Spain declined 8.5 percent year-on-year to €1.09 million in the month of August 2013.
