Motor Vehicle Sales in The Country Saw a Decline of 28 Percent Compared to The Same Month

In the first five months this year, motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 241,250 units, decreasing by 25 percent year on year, according to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD). Meanwhile, in May of the current year motor vehicle sales in the country saw a decline of 28 percent compared to the same month of 2013, totaling 61,866 units.

In the January-May period this year, passenger car sales in Turkey amounted to 178,495 units, decreasing by 24 percent year on year. In May, passenger car sales decreased by 26 percent year on year to 46,379 units.

On the other hand, in January-May this year Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 367,850 units, up five percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 242,696 units, up 24 percent, both year on year. The country exported 113,635 small trucks in the period in question, down 18 percent year on year. Revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports in the first five months amounted to $9.87 billion, rising by 12 percent, while the revenue from passenger car exports totaled $3.21 billion, rising by 11 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

In the first five months, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 161,937 units, while passenger car imports totaled 134,030 units, both decreasing by 27 percent year on year.
