According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in November 2012 Turkey's flat steel imports, including hot rolled, cold rolled, coated and narrow strip steel, fell by 13.4 percent compared to the previous month and were up 10.7 percent compared to November 2011, totaling 444,504 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $322.4 million, decreasing by 10 percent as compared to October this year and down 3.6 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of 2012 Turkey's flat steel imports amounted to 4.7 million metric tons, decreasing 1.9 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the first 11 months, Turkey's hot rolled flat steel imports from Ukraine amounted to 932,475 metric tons, increasing by 12.2 percent year on year. Turkey's second biggest source of hot rolled flat steel imports in January-November last year was Russia with 885,678 metric tons, down 22.8 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
