120 Delegates Have Successfully Completed This Year'S China Cotton Trade Training

One hundred and twenty delegates from 16 different provinces and regions have successfully completed this year’s China Cotton Trade Training, which took place on 20-22 August in Wuxi, China.
 
Developed specifically for the Chinese cotton community, the three-day interactive course focused on areas currently impacting on China's international cotton trade and the global cotton market.
 
One delegate to benefit from the training was Ms Li Shuhua, Trading Manager of the Nanyang Mother Earth Cotton Industry Co Ltd: “I would like to thank the organisers for hosting the Wuxi event.  The course was very thorough, systematic and practical.  All I hope is that more time will be allocated for future courses.”
 
Jointly organised by the International Cotton Association (ICA) and Beijing Cotton Outlook Consulting (BCO), the training incorporated a series of training modules - each conducted in Chinese and delivered by a leading industry expert.
 
The topics covered included - Fundamental knowledge (world cotton market and import/export, major cotton export countries and their characteristics), Trading issues (risk management, contract making, futures and options, cotton controlling and testing) and Trading rules (dispute resolution, international trading rules, arbitration agreements, arbitration procedures and arbitrator training).
 
Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Dr Robert Jiang, ICA's China Business Development Officer, said:  "We are delighted that the Wuxi training was well attended and has provided all participants with an opportunity to update their knowledge, which is vital in today’s cotton trade. The main aim of the training is to contribute to the healthy development of China’s cotton industry by improving delegates’ knowledge and their ability to solve some of the common problems encountered in the trade.
 
“Delegates enjoyed the interactive discussions and cases studies, as well as the opportunity to share ideas, knowledge and practical experience. They also got the chance to visit an advanced local spinning mill and take part in a table tennis tournament. During the time they spent together, many of the delegates have built long term friendships.”
