Most Taiwan-based LCD driver IC vendors are expected to see their sales grow 5-15% sequentially in the third quarter, powered by orders for large-size driver ICs from LCD panel suppliers and for small- and medium-size driver IC parts from the smartphone sector, according to industry sources.
Major suppliers, including Novatek Microelectronics, Himax Technologies, ILi Technology (Ilitek), Sitronix Technology, Raydium Semiconductor, UltraChip and Fitipower Integrated Technology, all will benefit from the rising demand, said the sources.
Orders for large-size LCD driver ICs have been growing steadily as most flat panel suppliers in Korea, Taiwan and China have revealed that their shipments are expected to continue to expand in the third quarter as compared to the previous quarter, said the sources.
Meanwhile, makers in the line have also landed more short lead-time orders for small- and mid-size LCD driver ICs recently as handset vendors are ready to launch more 4G smartphones in the third quarter, added the sources.
