APTMA spokesman has said that the government has agreed to restore gas supply from 7th February to the textile industry in Punjab for 2 days a week basis. It is second consecutive success of the APTMA leadership, as a day earlier electricity supply to the textile industry in Punjab was also restored by the government on effective representation of the issue before the highest office who directed the Ministry for Water & Power for immediate restoration of electricity supply to textile mills on independent feeders in Punjab for 24 hours a day.
A delegation of APTMA management called on the Advisor to Prime Minister on Petroleum & Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain on Wednesday and apprised him of the problems faced by the textile industry consequent to suspension of gas supply to mills in Punjab since last 50 days. The Advisor appreciated the cooperation of APTMA, particularly in Punjab, in helping out the ministry on gas supply to domestic consumers during severe winter season.
Further, he announced immediate restoration of gas supply to mills in Punjab. According to details, gas supply to textile mills in Lahore I & II will be provided every Thursday and Friday. Similarly, the mills in Faisalabad and Multan will be supplied gas on every Monday and Tuesday, till further improvement on SNGPL network.
Group Leader APTMA Gohar Ejaz, Central Chairman APTMA Ahsan Bashir, Chairman APTMA Punjab Shahzad Ali Khan and other office bearers appreciated the President, Prime Minister and Advisor to Prime Minister on Petroleum & Natural Resources for honouring commitment for providing energy supply to the industry from 1st week of February.
The industry leaders expressed the hope that uninterrupted energy supply would certainly boost industry confidence enabling it to utilize the idle capacity, retain employment and increase production mainly meant for exports, he remarked.
