November 21, 2012 - The Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA) is launching a new poster campaign to promote safe workplaces across the various sectors it serves in the wake of several tragic deaths from October 15 through November 4.
In one of those fatalities, a powerline technician died on the job in Sarnia while working on a storm-damaged distribution system.
Although each death was the result of different circumstances, there is one constant, says IHSA: those workers were not able to keep the promise they made to friends and family to come home safely. IHSA’s new poster underscores the Keep Your Promise concept.
Posters will be available as a free download on the ihsa.ca website. Printed copies (17 x 22 in.) will be made available to those firms that wish to share the message at their worksites.
IHSA is a developer and provider of prevention solutions for work environments involving high-risk activities, such as working with high-voltage electricity. It was formed in January 2010 by amalgamating the Construction Safety Association of Ontario (CSAO), Electrical & Utilities Safety Association of Ontario (E&USA) and Transportation Health & Safety Association of Ontario.
