All Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association (APTMA) members have reported an energy saving of up to 83.5 million kwh, which has generated an annual saving of Rs. 400 million.
This became possible due to the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program (REEE) implemented by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), together with German organization GIZ
SMEDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yousaf Naseem Khokhar said energy saving programs like REEE have become imperative in present era of energy crisis.
During a meeting with SMEDA Chief, Principal Advisor of REEE program at GIZ, Germany, Bernhard Mayhofer appreciated the cooperation extended by SMEDA for effective implementation of REEE program.
He proposed to devise a formal certification system for Energy Managers and qualification criteria for Energy Service Companies recognized as SMEs, without disturbing the existing Energy Management System (EnMS) application.
Also, he articulated his interest in extending association with SMEDA for better strategized implementation of ongoing activities and to add new activities like encouraging productive use of renewable energy and promoting use of Renewable Energy technologies in the industry.
