Brandina: when shape is designed by the function

Only 6 cm height, 118 joints ans 104 wooden thorns, all handmade. After over thirty years of wood-working, experience is gained and the desire to go further still exists! " Brandina" is designed thinking of the structure and the forces acting on it. It is result of joints, experiments, thorns, desire to lighten and wish to create a practiacal structure to use both as a bed and as a sofa. In order to realize  this project it was necessary to study the working process of elements in solid oak and beech. The individual pieces are assembled by special joints . They constitute a single body with lightweigt modern shape allowing to reduce adhesives. The treatment  with linseed oil enhances the wood grain by maintaining the waterproof product and improving its coating and longevity.

Eclettica:  when a project hides a surprise

Phase 1

The trick is in these two independent structures that flowing one into another. Our secret? Eight legs, each one different and all the necessary patience for their assembly.

Phase 2

With a simple gesture, the chair is extended, creating an excellent table top.

Phase 3

Et voilà! The armchair becomes a comfortable bed without gearing, because every thing that is unnecessary breaks down. The main feature of "Eclettica" deals with the complicated game of joints  allowing the two structures to flow one into another. To facilitate this mechanism was necessary a study on the design of eight different legs, each ones hand-made.
