ICTI Consists of 20 Toy Trade Associations

With the rapid development of toy safety standards worldwide, it is important to have efficient and coherent audit systems in place for factories to ensure uniformity of audits. Intertek has established a network of international auditing experts who are well-trained in the requirements of various auditing protocols for the toy industry, including those set by the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI).

ICTI consists of 20 toy trade associations, including countries of Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States. The council was established to ensure toys are produced in safe and humane environments. A coherent ethical standard, the Code of Business Practices and Auditing Protocol, was developed for factories to adopt and demonstrate due diligence.

Intertek is accredited, and has obtained the necessary training to conduct ICTI certification audits based on the ICTI Code of Business Practice. Benefits of ICTI Certification for suppliers are:

  • A uniform ethical standard and monitoring system for ICTI members
  • Avoiding multiple audits, thereby saving cost and time
  • Enhancing safety and health within the manufacturing environment
  • Increasing productivity and product quality
