US based electric automotive parts manufacturer UQM Technologies has signed a three year electric propulsion systems supply contract with the Boulder Electric Vehicle (BEV).
Under the deal, the manufacturer will deliver electric motors and controllers to power BEV's all-electric commercial vehicles including delivery vans for UPS and the Department of Defense SPIDERS program.
The UQM PowerPhase HD 220 electric motor, which generates an output of 220kw and 700nm of torque, will be important part of the BEV's electric vehicle powertrain in its DV-500 commercial vehicle platform.
UQM Technologies president and chief executive officer Eric Ridenour said the company developed its PowerPhase HD 220 electric vehicle system with the torque and power that commercial vehicles need.
"This new supply agreement with Boulder Electric Vehicle expands our business with the company, providing them with the efficiency and quality advantages in an all-electric powertrain that their customers are looking for," Ridenour added.
BEV chief executive officer Carter Brown said, "In addition to the power level we wanted for our DV-500 all-electric platform, the UQM systems also provide outstanding efficiency, which will help us meet our driving range goals."
