Lexus, the luxury arm of Japanese automobile major Toyota, has teamed up with experts across the world for designing state-of-the-art Hoverboards, riding high on super conductive technology.
Making it clear that the Lexus Hoverboard is a prototype and will not be up for sale, the company seeks to power Lexus Hoverboard by means of magnetic levitation with a view to ensuring a frictionless demeanor during movement.
Designing of the vehicle is part of Lexus 'Amazing in Motion' campaign which aims to put on display the creative faculty of Lexus employees. Lexus Hoverboard is slated to be tested in Barcelona, Spain, shortly.
For achieving such an effect, the Hoverboard seeks to combine liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductors and permanent magnets for levitating it above the ground.
Lexus International executive vice-president Mark Templin said: "At Lexus, we constantly challenge ourselves and our partners to push the boundaries of what is possible.
"That determination, combined with our passion and expertise for design and innovation, is what led us to take on the Hoverboard project. It's the perfect example of the amazing things that can be achieved when you combine technology, design and imagination."
The Hoverboard flaunts the Lexus spindle grille shape and it has put to use materials spotted in a luxury car brand, ranging from the high tech to natural bamboo.
