Dicv Has Launched Bharatbenz Medium-Duty Trucks at Its Oragadam Production Facility

Daimler Trucks subsidiary Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has launched BharatBenz medium-duty trucks at its Oragadam production facility in Chennai.

The distribution models of the trucks, 914R/1214R deliver an output of 100kW, while 1217C, the construction model comes with an engine that delivers 120kW (170ps) of output.

The 9t and 12t trucks are based on Daimler Trucks technical platform, while the chassis and the cabins of the vehicles are based on the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus' (MFTBC) Fighter medium-duty truck and the Canter light-duty truck respectively.

DICV managing director and CEO Marc Llistosella said that the company delivered the heavy-duty trucks in September 2012.

"Our medium-duty trucks will add a new dimension to reliable trucking by being very fuel efficient along with superior driving dynamics," Llistosella added.

In June 2012, the company had revealed its plan to launch a total of 17 models by 2014, which will include vehicles ranging from the initial six-tons to 49t gross vehicle weight (GVW).
