Scania Plans to Deliver 156 Articulated Buses to BVG

Swedish commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania is set to deliver 156 articulated buses to German-based public transport provider Berliner Verkehrsgesellschaft (BVG) from 2014 and 2017.

According to the company, BVG has chosen its vehicles based on the predictable maintenance costs and good fuel economy factors.

The order includes 156 Scania Citywide articulated buses which are equipped with Euro 6 engines and automated gearboxes.

Scania Europe and Eurasia buses & coaches sales director Fredrik Dahlborg said that this order is strategically important for establishing Scania in the German bus market.

"This means we have strengthened our position in two key segments," Dahlborg added.

"We can supply solutions featuring our vehicles and service for city and express bus services that are attractive to passengers, and ensure high availability and low operating costs for our customers."

Scania received an order in May 2013 from German transport operator ADAC Postbus to deliver over 60 express buses by 2014.
