Sprint Extended BYOD Management to Its Professional Services Portfolio on Monday

Sprint extended BYOD Management to its professional services portfolio on Monday, giving businesses a way to manage security and costs for workers who use consumer smartphones and tablets for work.

The Bring Your Own Device trend has been expensive and confusing for many businesses, and large wireless carriers, including AT&T and Verizon Wireless, and now Sprint, have started to offer services to business customers.

Sprint will charge $2 to $6 per user per month for the BYOD Management service, a spokeswoman said. Users can use smartphones and tablets from multiple carriers.

Customers are extended mobile device management software from various vendors. Sprint has partnered with Vision Wireless in making the BYOD service available.

In addition to MDM, the new service will help with company reimbursements of employee devices and wireless calls. Employees will be able to register their personal devices on a Web portal and the company will be able to use the input for further analysis, Sprint said.
