PTI reported that an officer of a private steel company engaged in construction work at Kalinga Nagar was allegedly abducted and assaulted by a group of men before he was rescued by police.
Police said that Mr Himadri Mukherji, Industrial Relation Officer of L&T, was rescued by police this morning from an abandoned house near Visa Steel Plant.
Police acted after they had been informed by the company that Mr Mukherji had gone missing since November 22nd 2012.
In a written complaint to the Jajpur Road police station, Mr Mukharjee said that while he was going to the plant site in his vehicle, 16 motorcycle borne youths intercepted him near Military Chhak and took him to the abandoned house November 22nd 2012.
He said that later, they confined him in a room and beat him up.
Police said that he could identify only 3 of the 16 accused, who were residents of the adjacent Jakhapura village.
