Scania Will Start Sales of Its Coaches and Buses in India

Swedish manufacturer of commercial vehicles Scania will start sales of its coaches and buses in India.

The company will launch the Scania Metrolink, a new range of buses and coaches for intercity and tourist services at the Busworld India 2013 show bieng held in Mumbai until 3 February 2013.

Scania will invest about SEK300m ($42m) in its industrial facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka that had started its construction in 2012.

The Bengaluru plant will manufacture the company's range of vehicles, while being the company's centre of commercial operations for India.

The company is also building a head office, service workshop and a central parts warehouse at the Bengaluru site in the country, where the industrial operations including final assembly of truck and bus chassis, bodywork and fitting out of complete vehicles will be done.

In November 2012, the truck maker had introduced four new trucks, R 500 6x4 heavy duty puller, G 460 6X4 heavy duty puller, P 410 6X2 prime mover and P 360 4X2 prime mover, for trial runs on Indian roads.
