Just days after Porsche debuted its EV Mission-E, Taiwanese technology group Thunder Power unveiled its answer to the super car with ‘Thunder Power Sedan’, which is capable of providing driving range of 650 km on a full charge.
The Thunder Power Sedan features European design and innovation, which has helped the company achieve new standards in EV.
The Sedan will be available in 230 kW or 320 kW power configurations, and the 320 kW model will be capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in under 5.0 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h.
However, Mission E by Porsche is capable of accelerating from 0- 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds.
Thunder Power features 125 kWh microprocessor-controlled battery pack, which is based on unique high-energy density lithium-ion cell technology.
The car is a product of five years of research, with companies like Bosch, Dallara, and the Italian Zagato designing house, which helped the Taiwanese company build the new car.
Thunder power features TP-Touch system, which offers safety, interconnectivity and entertainment. It features comfort applications like video streaming and internet, and includes intelligent driver support.
TP-Touch is also capable of advising drivers to the driver, minimizing unnecessary distractions and thereby increasing safety.
Apart from the sedan version, the Taiwanese automaker also displayed an AWD "Race" version of the Thunder Power at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The sedan will be initially rolled out to Europe in 2017 and in China in 2018, followed by the US.
Thunder Power chairman Wellen Sham said: "The electric vehicle industry is constantly evolving and we are making sure that we are one step ahead.
"Our range of electric vehicles will push the boundaries. We have drawn on the expertise of world-class European designers and engineers and after five years of research and development we are proud to launch our luxury range of vehicles at IAA 2015."
