Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. announced that it has been selected by the BMW Group to equip the new 2014 BMW MINI, and the tire maker will also be equipping the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
The company will supply the original equipment for the recently presented new MINI models One, One D, Cooper, Cooper D and Cooper S. Aside from the 15-inch basic tires for the One and Cooper models, as well as 16-inch for the Cooper S, a sporty 17-inch Hankook option is also available for the first time.
In addition to the standard versions, Hankook says it also supplies the 16- and 17-inch versions with the Hankook Runflat System (HRS) as tire sets with emergency running properties. Various summer patterns suiting each car’s respective engine power are utilized here to effectively support the sporty-direct handling of the MINI.
For the North American market, the tire manufacturer also supplies an all-season tread in all three sizes with 15-inch in the standard and 16- and 17-inch in the run-flat version.
The tire manufacturer is also equipping the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class with high-performance tires from its award-winning Ventus line. The medium-sized limousine is now the third model of the luxury brand from Stuttgart, Germany, following the Mercedes-Benz S and E Classes, that are being produced with Hankook tires.
It is also the first model that HRS tires are being built onto as original equipment, notes Hankook. The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is also being equipped with Hankook's Ventus S1 evo2 high-end tires in sizes 225/50 R 17 W in the standard as well as the run-flat versions.
