Shah Brothers Recalls Shabros Brand Coriander Cumin Powders According to The CFIA

Canadian establishment Shah Brothers Imports is voluntarily recalling Shabros brand Coriander Cumin Powders as they may be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

The products associated with the recall are 170g and 340g Shabros Coriander Cumin Powder bearing UPC codes 0 59011 00910 6 and 0 59011 00898 7 respectively, with Product Code Batch # 407.

These recalled products were distributed across Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, through retail stores.

CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall, which is classified as Class 2 health hazard. No illnesses have been reported associated with the recall.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in people with weakened immune systems and can result in fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

In some cases, infection with Salmonella can cause the organism getting into the bloodstream and result in severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
