Dutch navigation and mapping solutions firm TomTom has launched Trucker 6000 for the benefit of those earning their livelihood driving heavy vehicles.
Offering customized routes with a user-specific vehicle type, size, weight, cargo and speed, the device ensures that the truck heads to its destination.
The system offers real-time information about traffic and speed cameras to the drivers and the inputs are recorded in the route bar of the device.
With Trucker 6000, the drivers can get a realistic ETA based on vehicle profile and real-time traffic information, backed by TomTom Traffic1 and advanced routing technology.
TomTom Consumer co-founder and managing director Corinne Vigreux said: "One of the most important things is for truckers to be able to complete deliveries on time.
"That's why we designed the TomTom TRUCKER with truck-specific routing, and world-class TomTom Traffic information, to enable them to be as efficient as possible with the limited time they are allowed to drive. It's all part of our mission to get people to where they want to be, faster."
The device, which comes with Lifetime3 Truck Maps, flaunts a 6" interactive screen with the options for pinch, zoom and swipe can be put in place with the Click & Go magnetic mount. The device could also be used in cars.
Other features include Advance Lane Guidance, which clearly shows which lane to take at junctions, and Speak & Go, which allows the driver to control the device with their voice.
