Bakkavor, an Icelandic manufacturer of chilled prepared foods, is set to expand its Wingland Foods salad facility at Sutton Bridge, England, creating 200 new jobs.
The expansion is prompted by increased business with supermarket chain Waitrose. It involves extensions to production and warehousing facilities as well as improvements to site access for logistics purposes.
The Sutton Bridge plant produces 200,000 packs of salad per day.
Expected to be completed in April 2014, the expansion will help the company increase production and mark the next step in the development of Wingland site.
Wingland Foods general manager Steve Woolley said, "It will allow us to meet the growth demands of our customer and improve the overall efficiency of the site."
The company merged with Bakkavor eight years ago following the latter's purchase of Geest's portfolio of 30 companies.
Bakkavor is involved in manufacturing of private label prepared foods for grocery retailers and international foodservice operators.
