Xicato Has Revealed That It Grew Its Year-on-Year Revenues by 43 Per Cent in 2013

Xicato has revealed that it grew its year-on-year revenues by 43 per cent in 2013. The venture-backed company, which develops and sells LED modules to global lighting manufacturers, cited growth in the retail segment as one of the factors behind its successful year. It also announced that it has now expanded the number of OEM partners it works with to over 100.

Last year Xicato expanded its operations in San Jose, California to house its headquarters and first US manufacturing facility. The company will add approximately 20 people this year to support the new manufacturing and expansion.

The company was also awarded 49 patents last year for technology advancements in areas including colour consistency, spectral quality and diagnostics.

Xicato is preparing to launch a new generation of modules with in-built intelligence at the Light + Building exhibition in Frankfurt in early April under a banner of "Lighting 2.".

"Lighting 2.0 is finally bringing light from the analogue era into the digital age and we're proud of our part in driving the industry forward," said Gerard Harbers, chief technology officer for Xicato. "However, in the race to bring controls, connectivity and sensors to lighting, many of our competitors have overlooked two crucial aspects: delivering the best possible light to the end user and integrating the electronics to achieve a single, open source platform. We've built our core IP and technology around these and believe they are crucial to the future of Lighting 2.0," he said.
