Packaging films manufacturer Toray Plastics (America) has launched white, easy-to-peel PET lidding film, LumiLid XL7W, for use with refrigerated and frozen dairy foods.
The XL7W film is designed for refrigerated and frozen dairy foods that are packaged in polypropylene (PP) containers.
Toray Industries’ subsidiary said that the XL7Ws, upon sealing on PP container, forms a strong, consistent bond, sealing even through overfill on the rim of the tray.
In addition to offering production efficiencies, the IMS-certified PET film is said to reduce shredding and provide a premium appearance, and easy-to-peel seals on PP containers.
Toray Plastics (America) sales and marketing senior director Milan Moscaritolo said: “The market demand for PP containers, and compatible lidding film is growing.
“LumiLid offers the perfect solution in many areas: functionality, production efficiencies, waste reduction, seal performance during distribution, and consumer satisfaction.”
Available in 128, 164, and 200 gauges, the XL7W lidding features Toray’s robust, technologically advanced polyester as base to provide improved mechanical strength, the company said.
The lidding film’s applications include dairy foods, such as cottage cheese, sour cream, yogurt, butter, ricotta cheese, refrigerated processed cheeses and cheese spreads, and ice cream.
It can also be used for popular non-dairy spreads as well as non-dairy frozen foods and desserts.
Recently, Toray Plastics (America) has introduced new, environment-friendly, advanced metal-transfer film for premium decorative packaging, point-of-purchase displays, and specialty printing applications.
Toray Plastics is a manufacturer of polyester, polypropylene, bio-based, and metallized films for flexible and rigid packaging, lidding, graphic, industrial, optical, and electronic applications.
