Lighting Industry Association,Student Lighting Design Finalist Simon Locke-Wheaton,joins tp24 as a graduate trainee designer.
Sponsored by Anglepoise,OSRAM,and The Lighting Industry Association. The Student Lighting Design Awards allow students to gain valuable knowledge about the lighting industry, whilst using their creative skills to develop new lighting products.
Simon studied 3D-Product Design at Plymouth University and submitted the LED wall design called Pop On Lights at this year's final judging, where Shaun from tp24 saw his design exhibited.
For over a decade,tp24 have been forging a path as the UK's leading supplier of low energy lighting solutions to the domestic market, and for the past two years have run a short programme for graduates, each year taking on one product designer, one graphic designer and one PR assistant.
"Simon displayed a huge interest in lighting and I think his design was actually the best in terms of a design for lighting. He had worked on the light source and had given a lot of thought to the manufacture and it flexibility.
Working for tp24 will give Simon a good view of the realities of product design and enabled him to get into his chosen field by having experience in a fulltime roll.Currently he is working with the tp24 design team on some new generation of light fittings for release later this year".
