Fort Knox served as the "Home of Cavalry and Armor" for seven decades and is now embracing its new array of missions brought about by the BRAC transformations. As one of the largest US military bases in Kentucky, with over 109,000 acres spread over three different counties in the northern part of the state, it is operated by both the Marine Corps and the US Army. Fort Knox is home for Human Resources Command, Army Accessions Command and Cadet Command to join Recruiting Command information of the Human Resource Center of Excellence. It is also where you will find the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division; Army Reserve Readiness Training Center; 100th Division Headquarters; and the 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary).
In the autumn of 2011 the renovations were completed at Fort Knox which serves over 4,000 individuals and Jesco Industries–Wire & Iron Products Division located in Litchfield, Michigan was part of this. Jesco Industries–WIPCO was contracted by B L Harbert International LLC Joint Venture, to manufacture and supply our military 4,000 TA-50 Military Gear Lockers to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers specifications. All units were fully welded and shipped assembled. The lockers measure 24 inches deep x 42 inches wide x 78 inches high with double hinge doors and a three-point padlocking system. Each locker included one shelf, coat rod, and three coat hooks. Lockers were shipped assembled to make quick work at installation at the 3rd IBCT Company Operations Facility. All the installer had to do was remove the fully assembled lockers from the truck, place and secure to complete the installation in a relatively short time. The lockers required 69 truckloads to complete the locker portion of the project but that wasn't the end of the project.
